1929
Lancel launches numerous innovative designs like the umbrella bag and the automatic lighter, and moves to a four-story location at 8 Place de l’opéra in the heart of Paris.
1950
Lancel creates in 1956 the first soft-sided baggage, the “kangourou,” made from nylon canvas and equipped with an outside pocket.
1980
The Champs-elysées location opens in 1981. the iconic Bucket bag is reinvented and in 1987 becomes the best- selling elsa. Lancel goes international.
1990
Lancel creates ad campaigns full of surprises and fun: color, modernity and sparkling humor. in 1997 the maison is acquired by Richemont.
2000
Taking inspiration from its archives, Lancel creates “First Flirt” in 2000.
2014
The Charlie bag is created. With its unisex name, grained leather and considered detailing, Charlie embodies the Lancel spirit.
2016
Lancel celebrates 140 years of history, daring style and savoir-faire.
2018
Lancel joins the Italian leather goods group Piquadro.
2020
Launch of the "Play with Lancel" campaign concept.
