Since 1876, LANCEL has accompanied the movements of life with a vision of luxury that is at once free, functional, and deeply Parisian. On the occasion of its 150th anniversary, the Maison celebrates a unique heritage: that of a French Maison that has crossed eras by observing the transformations of the world, lifestyles, and silhouettes with a constant intuition for the spirit of its time.
Paris, 1876: The Birth of a Visionary Maison
Paris was only just recovering from the upheavals of the Second Empire when Alphonse and Angèle Lancel opened a small pipe workshop in the Passage des Petites Écuries. In this city undergoing reconstruction, where the grand boulevards were becoming the stage for a new modernity, the Maison was already imagining objects designed to accompany new ways of living.
Sculptural pipes, amber cigarette holders, precious cases: from its very beginnings, LANCEL developed a singular approach to beautiful and useful objects, balancing elegance and innovation. Very quickly, Angèle Lancel asserted her entrepreneurial vision and moved the boutique to Boulevard des Italiens, at the heart of the vibrant Belle Époque Paris. By 1896, she was already managing several locations across France, a rare achievement for a luxury Maison of that era.

An Anniversary Celebrated Through Memory and Creation
To celebrate this anniversary, LANCEL is unveiling two exclusive projects conceived as a dialogue between heritage and modernity. “LANCEL, Toujours”, an immersive exhibition presented in the historic boutique on Place de l’Opéra in Paris, retraces 150 years of creativity and innovation through archives, iconic objects, and emblematic pieces from the Maison.
At the same time, LANCEL is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of its signature Premier Flirt bag with an anniversary capsule collection composed of 15 exclusive editions. Reinterpreted through exceptional materials, textures, and craftsmanship, the iconic model reveals the full creativity and Parisian spirit of the Maison.
